Dr. Aikaterini Mikeli, DDS, Dr. med. dent., is a Prosthodontist who gained admission to the School of Dentistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) following national examinations. She graduated with a grade of “Very Good” and was a scholarship recipient during her undergraduate studies at NKUA.
She pursued her postgraduate and doctoral studies in Prosthodontics at the Dental School of the University of Tübingen and the UniversitätsZahnMedizin at the Uniklinikum Dresden Carl Gustav Carus in Germany. Her Doctoral degree (Dr. med. dent.) in Prosthodontics has been recognized as equivalent to the corresponding Greek doctoral degree (PhD) by the Interdisciplinary Organization for the Recognition of Academic Titles and Information (DOATAP). Additionally, the Clinical Specialization title in Prosthodontics and Dental Materials, which she earned after examinations conducted by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Prothetische Zahnmedizin und Biomaterialien e. V. (DGPro) / German Association for Prosthetic Dentistry and Biomaterials, has been recognized by the European Prosthodontic Association (EPA).
She worked for several years as a Scientific Associate with teaching responsibilities (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin) at the Department of Prosthodontics, Medical School, University Clinic Carl Gustav Carus, Technical University of Dresden in Germany. This position is equivalent to the introductory rank of Assistant Professor at Greek universities.
Since her return to Greece, she has held the position of Assigned Lecturer/Scientific Associate for laboratory and clinical practice of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics at the Dental School of the NKUA. Additionally, she practices general dentistry with a focus on complex prosthetic and implantology cases in her private practice located in Athens.
She has specialized in the placement and restoration of dental implants by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Zahnärztliche Implantologie (DGZI e.V.), in the use of orthopantomography, CBCT as well as the use of laser in dentistry. She has participated in numerous international and national conferences and has an extensive bibliography.
